The Good Food Company is powered by the Gideotech Group, which has helped develop our unique products in conjunction with South Africa’s best scientists.

Our focus is quality nutritional products at rock bottom prices to make a difference in societies which need it most. In the word’s of Madiba – you can’t teach a hungry child and that is what drives us.

Our Mission

We should all care and take responsibility ...

Africa is our home and we are all Africans who should care about each other and take responsibility. Fixing the blame instead of fixing the challenges we face as a continent, will get us nowhere. The Good Food Company is committed to making a difference in the lives we touch and committed to serving Africa and its people.

Our Mission is to help feed Africa and especially the most neediest and the children who deserve a better chance in life. Millions of children throughout Africa go to bed hungry. Not to mention the millions of children who often have to go to school hungry or underfed.

We are committed to help these in need by providing super affordable, quality food products to those who need it most. We will continue to invest in products and solutions which make a difference, and our AFRIKA SUPER PROTEIN BAR is the first of our products to help save a life in Africa.

"A super protein bar, rich in vitamins and packed with healthy energy"

How it all started

The Good Food Company was inspired by a team of professionals within the Gideotech Group of companies, realising the significant need to help feed Africa. Dr. Louis Verhoef (renowned scientist) originally approached the Gideotech Group with the idea to produce an affordable energy bar for Africa, and to use Soya as the primary source of protein. Although it sound simple at the time, the challenge was formidable as quality nutrients don’t come cheap and it remained a challenge to get an affordable, tasty and nutritious product all in one.

The penny however dropped and it soon became evident that it could be possible and Gideotech continued to develop and invest in the concept. However, the idea was framed to come up with a unique product which will not only be tasty, but also super nutritious with the highest possible protein levels, all wrapped into a 60g snack bar.

  • The first challenge was to identify the best  quality ingredients which would be best suited, but also cost effective.
  • Secondly, the bar has to be super tasty as the primary market for our bar is children who in many many areas throughout Africa, go to school hungry and undernourished.
  • The third and most challenging, was to be able to produce such a bar cost effectively and the target was set to achieve this under US$0.50 cents per 60g serving.
  • The fourth challenge was to produce a product which is simple to eat, has a good shelf life and is easy to package and distribute.

All of the above subsequently led to the development of the “AFRIKA SUPER PROTEIN BAR”. A healthy protein bar with more than 24% protein, stacked with rich vitamins and chocolate coated. When we decided to chocolate coat the bar, some dieticians were immediately concerned, stating that the chocolate will lead to excess sugar content and later obesity.

What needed to be taken into consideration, however, is that this product is developed for undernourished children. Children who in most cases have never even tasted a chocolate in their little lives. From the outset, we were committed to not only making a healthy and super protein bar, but a tasty luxurious product everyone can be proud of.

The AFRIKA SUPER PROTEIN & ENERGY BAR is the culmination of two years in development, a lot of trial and error, and an unbeatable end product which will serve Africa and its people well for generations to come.

The Good Food Company - Nutritional Sciences

Attention to quality

The Good Good Food Company spent a great deal of time and money to develop its products, and we continue to do so with an emphasis of not producing excellent products, however, products which are affordable without sacrificing on quality.

Below is an explanation of the Nutritional value contained in a single 60g serving,  compared to how much food one must eat to obtain the same proteins, carbohydrates, fat, micro-nutrients, vitamins and minerals in one single bar.

The results are actually astounding and difficult to believe, however scientifically proven. Disclaimer: The Good Food Company in no manner whatsoever, is claiming that the Afrika Protein Bar is a substitute for good food, to the contrary. However, we are proud of our products and the benefits they have as a quality supplement to a normal diet, or as in our target market, a very low nutritional diet.
